True North to Freedom

True North to Freedom is an agency that provides safety, care, and counseling to victims of Human Trafficking.  It began in 2015 as a 501c3 organization in a church in McClemens, but has its current home in Warren. They have served over a hundred women in those years and are actively serving 20 on an ongoing basis. Fred Blair served as treasurer and secretary of the board for the first 4 years, and continues to serve every Wednesday as a volunteer supplying the physical needs of the clients. This includes food, clothing, and other needs for the home. For the clients and their children, they give out nearly $50,000 worth of supplies in an average year. True North to Freedom is the only agency in Macomb County that has service to human trafficking survivors, and were instrumental to forming an agency that was operated out of the Macomb County executive’s office to combat human trafficking.
