Middelburg Care Village

In June of 2025, eleven members of St. Thomas had their hearts stolen by the children of Care Village in Middelburg, South Africa!  The team spent two AMAZING weeks happily spending time with 104 children at the facility, building relationships through playing games, crafting, cooking, dancing, reading, and sharing meals. Throughout the trip, both youth and adults connected deeply with others, celebrated each other’s strengths, inspired stronger teamwork, and became more sure of themselves in service.

Care Village provides food, activities, housing and after school programs for over 120 children that have been temporarily or permanently displaced from their families due to hardship or abuse.  Our ongoing plan is to continued to help develop these children to become self confident and productive adults.  The facility is in the process of remodeling dormitories and facilities to create a skill learning center (textile and construction skills, mechanics skills, farming, etc.) for the children to continue to learn skills to be independent.
